The Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO) recognized the winners of its annual awards program at a gala on September 19 with honors that include one Project of the Year, two Awards of Excellence, and 19 Awards of Merit.
Johnson Chou, of his eponymous Toronto-based firm (Contract, December 2011), received the coveted Project of the Year award for Sixty Colborne, a condominium presentation center located in Downtown Toronto, across the street from Saint James Cathedral. Other winning projects include the Telus Generation 2 store in Laval, Quebec, a renovation of Polar Securities Bay Street Offices, and sustainable building project Nova Scotia Power.
“ARIDO members consistently defy expectations, creating ground-breaking, world-class projects,” says the Association's president Sue Bennett. “There are dozens of marketing centers built in Ontario every year, but Sixty Colborne stands out from the crowd. It is a true creative expression.”
