USG and GE Collaborate on Integrated Ceiling and Lighting System

16 October, 2012

-By Staff

USG and GE Lighting have collaborated on a monolithic and sustainable ceiling system for commercial applications including office, healthcare, retail, and hospitality spaces. The resulting product includes features  from each company's portfolio: USG’s Logix™ Ceiling System panels, which have high light reflectance and recycled content, and GE’s Lumination™ LED Linear Recessed Luminaires with significantly better lighting performance over fluorescents and can last for years with out needing to be replaced.

According to Chris Griffin, executive vice president, operations, USG, the collaboration addresses a need within the architectural and design communities for more monolithic high performance ceiling options. “We’re proud to offer a ceiling system that can be designed with greater flexibility in the configurations, performance specifications, and aesthetic and size options of panels and grids, while also incorporating lighting and mechanical systems for a more customized and monolithic ceiling.”

Among the advantages of collaboration is the combined technical expertise from both companies, says Jaime Irick, general manager, Lighting North America Professional Solutions. “The breakthrough of our integrated ceiling and lighting system offers uninterrupted channels of lighting and acoustical panels for a desired design aesthetic without compromising performance.
