Contract magazine's Nightingale Awards showcase the best in excellence and innovation in healthcare product design. The annual program, sponsored by Contract magazine, The Center for Health Design, and Healthcare Design.11, aims to promote and recognize product design that contributes to the quality of healthcare. The 2011 competition is exclusively open to all exhibitors at the annual Healthcare Design.11 conference, being held November 13 to November 16 at the Gaylord Opryland in Nashville.
The 2011 Nightingale Awards winners will be announced and formally recognized at an awards ceremony at the conference on November 15, held from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. To maximize exposure from the competition, all winners will receive framed certificates to display in their booths for the duration of the conference and a personalized glass award. Winners also will be published in an upcoming issue of Contract magazine and online at contractdesign.com, as well as on The Center for Health Design Web site at healthdesign.org.
Submitted products must be new healthcare and contract (nonresidential) products introduced to the U.S. market since November of the previous year and must not have been entered in previous Nightingale Awards competitions. Prototypes are not eligible. Each manufacturer is limited to a total of four entries.
Entries will be judged by a panel of healthcare facilities executives and interior designers, who will visit each manufacturer’s booth two days before the conference opens for an in-person presentation, on several criteria: contribution to the quality of healthcare; functionality; quality/durability; aesthetics/style; environmental sustainability; and pricing.
