Wyndham Hotels and Resorts Opens First Hotel in China

June 24, 2009

The Wyndham Hotels and Resorts brand is making its Chinese debut with the opening of the 588-room Wyndham Xiamen. The 5-Star hotel features five F&B concepts, 37,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, a 2,658-sq.-ft. business center, and extensive fitness facilities.

Architectural and design highlights include a 66-ft.-high waterfall; 23-ft.-tall lobby chandelier glistening with 882 large crystal drops and 88 light bulbs; and the hotel's front face, which includes 460 energy-efficient lights that create a kaleidoscope of changing colors and designs at night. Residing at the hotel's entrance is a 23-ft.-high statue named the Goddess of Heping, representing an interpretation of the indigenous goddess of the sea, Mazu.

The top five floors comprise the Wyndham Club, with 90 executive rooms, library, business services, meeting room, and split-level lounge. The centerpiece of the meeting facilities is a 13,558-square-foot, pillarless grand ballroom that can accommodate up to 1,000 guests.
