DuPont Corian Goes to Philly

June 25, 2009

Showcasing the company's latest surface innovations, the ultramodern 2,500-sq.-ft. DuPont Corian Design Studio, which includes a showroom and art gallery, has opened in Philadelphia's Marketplace Design Center. DuPont partnered with C.H. Briggs, one of the largest distributors of DuPont Surfaces, to unveil the downtown space for the city's architects and designers.

"Our collective vision was to create a place where industry experts can collaborate and create inspirational applications with Corian and Zodiaq," said Elizabeth Lawson, North America commercial marketing manager at DuPont Surfaces. Added Tiana Bragg, Design Studio consultant, "Our goal is to ignite the Philadelphia design community's appreciation for Corian and Zodiaq by creating an environment of interaction and experimentation."

Created by renowned New York-based designer Harry Allen to reflect a gallery-style setting, the Design Studio serves as a place where architects and designers can explore Corian as an innovative and multisensory design material. Throughout the space, both traditional and nontraditional applications are showcased to underscore the versatility of the company's solid surfacing. The Design Studio will also be home to traveling exhibits, educational seminars and other events.

Philadelphia is the third city (following Milan and New York) to be home to a DuPont Corian Design Studio. Each location is individually created to meet the unique design needs of its geographic region. Architects and designers can schedule one-on-one appointments at the studio through designstudio.corian.com/phila.
