In response to the rising importance of social media, Columbus, Ohio-based Chute Gerdeman has released Chute Gerdeblog, a company blog about inspirational designs and current trends. Launched yesterday, Chute Gerdeblog is written by the same people behind Chute Gerdeman, allowing the company’s design team to compress what their eyes see into words.

Evolving from the firm’s e-mail newsletter, “The Gist,” Chute Gerdeblog better encompasses the whole of the design industry, where team members provide an ongoing commentary on retail, restaurant, and cultural sectors.

With the designers as the driving force behind the blog, the platform serves as a brand extension of what the firm does for its clients on a daily basis.

“Much of our work involves travel and during that travel we see things that inspire us—most often for the project we’re working on, but we also find flashes of brilliance and inspiration that aren't relevant at the time. Launching the blog allows that information to reach many more people, on a more timely basis,” Joanna Felder, Director of Creative Strategy says.

“We believe it positions us correctly as an intelligent and observant business with a relevant point of view on our industry and our disciplines,” she adds.

With blog sections such as “Postcard” (which reads much like a design travel log), “Trendspot,” and “Things We Love,” Chute Gerdeblog is already filled with Chute Gerdeman personality.
