To enter, students are asked to create a four-minute video centered on the topic of genuine design and why furniture designers deserve protection against knock-offs. Videos will be reviewed for originality, quality of content, and impact of message by a jury panel of design journalists and professionals including: Sarah Rich, senior editor, Dwell; Laurel Petriello, web editor, Interior Design; Nicole Haddad, design editor, New York Spaces; Karen Shalett, editor in chief, DC Modern Luxury; and David McFadden, chief curator, Museum of Arts and Design.
Students currently pursuing a design-related degree at an accredited U.S. undergraduate or graduate university are eligible. Entry forms obtained at genuinedesign.com and submissions must be received by March 5.
Four winning submissions will be announced at the end of March and will be awarded $3,500, $2,500, $1,500, and $1,000, respectively. Winners will be honored at an event at M2L’s Manhattan showroom and their videos will be viewable at Genuine Design online.
