The American Institute of Architects (AIA) today announced the winners for two annual architecture awards. Nine winners were named for the 2010 Young Architects Awards and three winners for the 2010 Institute Honors for Collaborative Achievement.

The Young Architects Award, which recognizes excellence in leadership and significant professional contribution among those professionals licensed 10 years or fewer, will be presented at the AIA 2010 National Convention and Design Exposition in Miami to: David Burt, AIA; Kevin deFreitas, AIA; David Grissino, AIA; Christopher Kelley, AIA; Brian Malarkey, AIA; Gregory Minott, AIA; Anthony Piermarini, AIA; Kristine Royal, AIA; Tricia Stuth, AIA. More information about the winners can be found at aia.org

“It is clear the Young Architects are making significant contributions to society and the profession. This year’s submissions were truly inspiring. The young architects exhibited leadership and commitment that confirms the profession has an exciting future," says Edward J. Kodet, Jr. FAIA, 2010 Chancellor, who took part in the judging.

Additionally, recipients of the 2010 Institute Honors for Collaborative Achievement recipients will be honored at the AIA 2010 National Convention and Design Exposition.  The Architect’s Newspaper, Texas Architect Magazine, and The Alaska Design Forum (ADF) will be awarded for their distinguished achievements and beneficial influence toward the advancement of architecture.
