EwingCole, a Washington, D.C.-based multidisciplinary architecture, engineering, and interior design firm, announced this week that it has signed an exclusive five-year contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center (DVAMC) to provide the facility with ongoing and indefinite architecture and engineering services.

Potential projects for EwingCole include preparation of reports, studies, design criteria, estimates, contract drawings, specifications, designs and other general A-E services for alterations, and renovations, as well as site investigations, maintenance and repair, and new construction.

EwingCole’s previous projects for the VA include facility analysis and hospital renovations along the East Coast.

"The nature of an Indefinite Delivery Contract offers the VA extreme flexibility when contracting Architectural and Engineering services, yet there is a wide range of specialized experience and technical competency that only dedicated experts can deliver," says John Capelli, AIA, EwingCole's principal in charge. "EwingCole is unique in that we have the required technical competency and specialized expertise. As an in-house standard, we integrate smart environmental and economical strategies into our design, planning, and engineering solutions. Our building system design takes into account the critical need for energy efficiency, reliability, and flexibility; air quality, comfort, and sound levels; and provides economic solutions to the benefit of the VA."

The firm holds an impressive portfolio of completed healthcare work, having designed such projects as the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, City of Hope Medical Center, Fox Chase Cancer Center, Geisinger Medical Center, and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
