When a family-owned global financial services firm located just outside of Philadelphia asked local firm Marguerite Rodgers, LTD to create an up-scale redesign for its newly acquired executive-level floor, the small Philadelphia-based firm’s Owner and President Marguerite Rodgers tried to talk the client into seeking other design talent. “We had many other projects going on at the time,” says Rodgers, “and we don’t specialize in corporate design work, rather retail, restaurant, and more public space projects.” But Rodgers eventually accepted the project, and is glad she did.
The client, which began with a small 10-person staff, had occupied the top floor of the three-story office building for several years, over which time it continued to acquiring additional floors, working its way down to the ground level as former tenants’ leases came to an end. Each floor came to house its own department and areas for communal space such as a cafeteria and lounge areas were also included, but the original top-floor office remained the same. The client sought to transform this level into its new executive space, with all the luxury design bells and whistles that go along with that inference...
