The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) has named Randy W. Fiser as its new executive vice president and chief executive officer, and he will begin in that role on Monday, February 13. He succeeds Michael Alin, who retired October 1, 2011, after more than 20 years with the Society. Fiser will oversee an organization of more than 30,000 members and 48 chapters throughout the United States and Canada.

Fiser has extensive experience in management roles with corporate, not-for-profit, and professional services industries. Since fall 2009, Fiser has been a vice president of management, finance, and operations for the Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit education reform organization Achieve.

ASID President Lisa Henry, FASID, led a national search task force seeking a candidate for executive vice president and CEO. Fiser was chosen by the task force and approved by the ASID Board of Directors. "Our profession faces tremendous opportunities and is in the midst of significant change, and we are so pleased to have Randy's innovative leadership experience at the helm of ASID," Henry said in a statement. "His expertise in organizational design skills combined with his strategic business background will be of benefit to our members and the industry."

In 2008 and 2009, Fiser was a senior advisor and acting director of communications for the Make it Right Foundation. He provided strategy, communications, and organizational advice for the nonprofit rebuilding the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans. "Working with the Make It Right Foundation, I witnessed firsthand the power of design as it transformed the lives of the residents of New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina," Fiser said in a statement. "I am pleased to lead ASID in its quest to raise awareness of the power of design to transform the human experience in all types of spaces."

In 2006 and 2007, Fiser was vice president of programs for Corporate Voices for Working Families, and in 2005 and 2006 he was a director at Burson-Marsteller, a public relations and communications firm. As director of strategic management and planning at Fannie Mae Foundation from 2002 to 2005, Fiser developed and implemented new systems and process for building a performance-based organization leveraging the foundation’s financial resources. Fiser was a senior associate with Booz Allen Hamilton, a provider of strategy, management and technology consulting, from 1996 to 2002.

Fiser holds an MBA in international business from Georgetown University, a Master of Arts in counseling and human development from University of Georgia, and a Bachelor of Arts in human resource management from Northern Arizona University.
