Amtrak has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for development of a master plan for Philadelphia’s 30th Street Station. The rail operator, in partnership with Drexel University and Brandywine Realty Trust, seeks to formulate a vision for the Art Deco station and the surrounding areas, including the potential development of air rights above the rail yards. The plan also will identify commercial development opportunities and address improved connectivity between the station and the neighboring community.
In a statement, Amtrak said that a projected rise in train travel prompted the RFP. Forecasts predict a 59 percent increase in rail ridership and a 41 increase in train volumes in Philadelphia by 2030.
Parties interested in submitting a proposal should contact contracting agent Carlton Myers in Amtrak’s procurement department at firstname.lastname@example.org. The closing date for proposals is November 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. EST. Additional information regarding the RFP can be found here.
