The Center for Active Design has named winners of its inaugural Excellence awards, which recognize the role of design in encouraging physical activity to combat obesity and chronic disease. A jury selected four winning projects and two honorable mentions, as well as a Leadership in Active Design Excellence award honoring an early adopter with a track record of active design implementation.
The selection criteria required built projects to be complete and to have implemented at least one of the center’s four active design categories: active transportation, active recreation, healthy food access, or active building.
