Convene has revealed its first retail location with a new conference center near New York City’s Grand Central Terminal. Gensler designed the new-build facility, situated on the ground floor of the Kalikow building at 101 Park Avenue, as an urban retreat from everyday work.
Gensler employed what Convene principals call a “human-centered design process,” resulting in breakout spaces, a café, special events venues, and meeting rooms. A neutral palette allows meeting hosts to showcase their brands during presentations. Highlights of the space include tall ceilings, a grand stair leading into the main reception area, artwork referencing the locality of New York City, and glass-fronted conference rooms.
Convene also has teamed up with Gensler and Haworth Furniture to develop a kit of parts comprising custom furnishings, fixtures, technology, food and beverage offerings, color palette, signage, and branding for construction of future conference centers.
