The Dutch Design Awards has released its official invitation to designers in the Netherlands. Now in its ninth year, the free awards program will recognize excellence in design and present nine awards in three main categories—communications, product, and spatial—as well as a Young Designer Award for Best Future Concept, Public Award, Best Prinicpal Award, and the BNO Piet Zwart Prize-Life Time Achievement Award.
The Golden Eye Award, which designates the best of the best of Dutch Design, also will be bestowed, the winner of which will receive 20,000 euro (about 29,000 U.S. dollars). All winners will be named during a festive awards ceremony at the start of the Dutch Design Week (DDW) on October 22 in muziekgebouw Eindhoven.
A selection committees will evaluate the total offering of scouted work and online submissions per subcategory to deem the finalists, while an international jury will choose the winners.
