Interface has launched a new global design competition, “Reconnect Your Space,” which invites the architecture and design community to share ways in which biophilic principles can influence a new or existing space.

Open to students of design and architecture, interiors designers, and architects, the competition asks entrants to share unique visions that incorporate elements of nature in interior or urban spaces. A sketch, drawing, rendering, or similar visual representation of an idea and a 150-to-500-word description must be submitted electronically by April 1. Public voting will take place through Interface’s social media channels from March 1- April 15 to determine six finalists.

A grand prize winner will be chosen by an Interface appointed-panel that consists of Robert D. Fox, principal at Fox Architects in New York; Paul McGillick, editorial director at Indesign Publishing in Sydney, Australia; and Richard Weston, professor of architecture at the Welsh School of Architecture in Cardiff, Wales. He or she can select a four-day travel prize to Singapore, San Francisco, or the United Kingdom to see some of the world’s most pioneering examples of biophilia. The winner will be announced on May 6.
