Think tank Ethisphere Institute has named
Milliken & Company to its list of 2013 World’s Most Ethical Companies. The honor marks Milliken’s seventh consecutive year of recognition—every year since the list’s inception. A spot on the list highlights a business’s integrity standards and ethical cultures.
Ethisphere received a record number of nominations and applications this year, which the organization attributes to the increasing importance corporations are placing on ethical activity. “We are also seeing more companies be proactive and create new initiatives that expand ethics programs and cultures across entire industries, such as industry-based ethics associations and other activities,” says Alex Brigham, Ethisphere’s executive director.
The methodology for determining rankings includes the examination of codes of ethics, evaluation of sustainable business practices, review of activities aimed at improving corporate citizenship, and studying nominations from a variety of stakeholders.
