Perkins+Will has completed work on 140 New Montgomery, an Art Deco skyscraper constructed in 1925 for the Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company in San Francisco. The firm revitalized and integrated many of the building’s original elements, including the lobby and its historic “Bell” symbols, marble staircases, wood doors, and wood paneling in the executive board room. Additionally, Perkins+Will transformed the former service courtyard into a sculpture garden and dining area for two restaurants.

Achieving LEED Gold status, the building features new high-efficiency windows preserving the building’s historic character while providing natural ventilation and ample daylight. Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems also were upgraded.
