Pierre-Yves Rochon, Gensler Team Up for Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills

17 April, 2014

-By Holly O'Dell

Pierre-Yves Rochon (PYR) will bring its luxury hospitality aesthetic to the interiors of the new Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, set to open in 2017. Joined by parent company Perkins+Will, PYR also will co-design the exterior with Gensler. The curving white stone building, adorned in polished metals and sleek glass, takes its cues from California’s Streamlined Moderne style.

Art Deco design will inform the three-story lobby, highlighted by murals of California landscapes, custom Strass crystal chandeliers, and the signature Waldorf Astoria clock. Featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, the 170 guestrooms open onto oversized private balconies, while the hotel’s villa suites offer access to private garden terraces. Plans also call for a landscaped rooftop pool deck, restaurant, 5,000-square-foot spa, and space for meetings and events.

PYR will incorporate lavish touches throughout the hotel, including rich upholstered furniture, lacquered sycamore millwork, and Lalique crystal installations. The firm also is responsible for the hotel’s curated art program.
