Michael Graves, FAIA, founding principal of Michael Graves & Associates, Michael Graves Design Group, and Contract magazine’s 2013 Legend, has been appointed to the U.S. Access Board by President Barack Obama
The honor is among Grave’s many awards including the Richard H. Driehaus Prize at the University of Notre Dame, the AIA/ACSA Topaz Medal, the AIA Gold Medal, and the National Medal of Arts. He was also named one of the Top 25 Most Influential People in Healthcare Design by The Center for Health Design in 2010.
Providing leadership in accessible design under the ADA and other laws, the U.S. Access Board functions as a federal coordinating body. Its governing board functions to represent the public, and particularly people with disabilities. Comprised of 13 public members, the appointed board is chosen by the President and representatives from 12 federal departments.
