Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2013 will open its 52nd annual furniture fair—including the 16th edition of the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition, the Euroluce/International Lighting Exhibition, SaloneUfficio/International Workspace Exhibition, and SaloneSatellite—under the headline “Milan: Interiors of Tomorrow.” Held from April 9- 14 in Milan, Italy, the exhibitions layout will follow the 2012 format.

“Changing market forces and the current challenging economic climate mean that we have to respond quickly to the needs of our clients; our exhibitors on one hand and our international visitors on the other,” says Claudio Luti, president of Cosmit, the official organizer of Salone. “The event has one precise aim, which is to provide a showcase for the very best our companies have to offer, the creative investment into which they have been pouring their efforts for the last 12 months.”

To address current business and market needs, Cosmit has invited French architect Jean Nouvel to design an original vision of complementary living and work spaces at the upcoming fair. Approximately 17,000 square feet in the Salone Ufficio pavilions, (22- 24), aim to illustrate positive aspects of living within a work space through the use of new materials and technologies. A classical apartment, an industrial warehouse, a private home, a skyscraper, an industrial platform, and a theoretical space will be prototypes for habitable work spaces of the future.
