The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) has named George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg, founders of Yabu Pushelberg, as recipients of the 2014 IIDA Star Award. The award recognizes significant contributions to the design industry.
“Yabu Pushelberg’s commitment to the highest standards of hospitality and retail design is evident in the vigorous innovation of the firm’s work, and is reflected in the many honors that George and Glenn have received,” IIDA executive vice president and CEO Cheryl Durst, Hon. FIIDA, said in a statement. “Because of this demonstrated commitment and its far-reaching impact elevating the profession worldwide, we are pleased to honor and celebrate Yabu Pushelberg as this year’s Star Award recipient.”
Yabu Pushelberg, Contract’s 2002 Designers of the Year, has studios in Toronto, New York, Guangzhou, China. Their global projects include the Four Seasons Hotels in Toronto and Tokyo; the W Hotel in Times Square; Louis Vuitton, Hong Kong; the Viceroy Maldives Resort.
Earlier this year, Yabu and Pushelberg were appointed officers of the Order of Canada for their outstanding achievement, dedication to the community, and service to the nation.
