Our Mission
Contract magazine is the leading publication for commercial interior design and architecture, connecting professionals and covering projects, products, and practice issues that set the standards in the industry. Contract elevates the relevance and value of commercial design by focusing on the power of designers to transform business and institutional environments.

Established in 1960, Contract publishes features on outstanding workplace, retail, educational, hospitality, healthcare, civic, and performing arts environments; coverage of commercial interior products and product development trends; as well as in-depth stories on emerging business and technical trends impacting design. Industry news, profiles of leading designers, and coverage of major industry events are also key elements of our content tailored for design professionals.

Focused on commercial interior architecture and design, the Contract audience is interior designers, architects, and related industry professionals who collaborate on the design of contemporary workplace, healthcare, hospitality, education, retail, cultural, and government projects. The audience includes members of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), American Institute of Architects (AIA), and international designers as well.
Contract: The Authority on Commercial Design

Competitions and Awards
Contract presents the Interiors Awards, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious awards for the design of commercial interiors and annually honors a Designer of the Year and Design Legend. It also presents the Healthcare Environment Awards and Nightingale Awards in conjunction with The Center for Health Design, the Inspirations Awards in conjunction with Tandus Centiva, and the Best of NeoCon Awards for the products at NeoCon.

To Submit Projects
Contract seeks exemplary commercial interiors (workplace, hospitality, education, healthcare, retail, and civic), in any location and any scale, completed in the past year. View the Editorial Calendar to see the project types that the magazine will focus on in forthcoming months, but know that editors review projects on an ongoing basis throughout the year. A project should not be previously published in—or committed to be published in—any other U.S.-based professional/trade architecture or interior design magazine. To send a project for consideration, transmit a PDF contact sheet showing all images of a given project and a brief project description to Editor in Chief John Czarnecki at jczarnecki@contractdesign.com. You will be contacted if hi-resolution images are desired.

To Submit Products for Editorial Consideration
Contract publishes newly released products that designers would specify in commercial interiors (workplace, hospitality, education, healthcare, retail, and civic). To send a product for consideration, send images and a brief description to products@contractdesign.com.
