Winners of the 2017 SEGD Global Design Awards Announced

More than 40 projects were honored at the 2017 SEGD Global Design Awards on June 10. The sole international awards program dedicated to user experiences within the built environment, the SEGD Global Design Awards received 406 submissions for consideration from across the globe.

The top prize this year went to iart ag and architects Christ & Gantenbein for their collaborative creation Kunstmuseum Basel Light Frieze in Basel, Switzerland. The 2017 Sylvia Harris Award and Merit Award was bestowed upon Second Story, for the installation ‘Who, Like Me, Is Threatened?’ at the Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta.

This year’s jury included NBBJ designer Patrick Blanchard, who was also a student winner in the 2016 SEGD Global Design Awards; Airspace senior designer Rachel Einsidler; Michael Freimuth, founder and creative director of Franklyn; Carlo Giannasca, head of environments for Frost*Collective; Keith Helmetag, founder and partner of C&G Partners; Christina Lyons, chair of the Graduate Exhibition Design Program at the Fashion Institute of Technology; Studio Matthews Owner and Principal Kristine Matthews; and Entro Principal and Creative Director Udo Schliemann.
