The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) has announced the Best of Competition Winner for the 2014 Best of Asia Pacific Design Awards. McBride Charles Ryan of Prahran, Australia, won for their project Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School ‘The Infinity Centre,’ in Keilor East, Australia.
“We are pleased to recognize McBride Charles Ryan for an invigorating submission that deftly weaves spaces for unplanned interaction and the cultivation of ideas and community,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA, LEED AP. “‘The Infinity Centre’ is innovation at its finest.”
The Best of Asia Pacific Design Awards recognizes the highest level of creativity and design excellence in interior design and architecture projects throughout the Asian Pacific region.
“This is the kind of environment that will allow young minds to challenge the future,” the judges said. “This teaches children the importance of space and that it can change your perceptions of what the world can be. It is a rare project where the inside and the outside converge to make a complete thought.”
The winning projects were honored and celebrated at an awards reception held at the Conrad Centennial Singapore Hotel, Wednesday, October 1.
A full listing of the 2014 winners was released earlier this month and winners will be featured in the December issue of Contract magazine, the publishing partner for the competition.
