The forthcoming, Populous-designed arena for the English football club the Tottenham Hotspur is on track for an August 2018 opening in time for the 2018-2019 soccer season. The stadium will be equipped to accommodate more than 61,000 visitors—more than any other London arena—and house two pitches within the bowl. The Hotspur currently call Wembley Stadium home.

A real turf soccer field will be installed three steel trays the span the length of the field. The trays will each retract under the stands on the southern end of the design to reveal an artificial playing surface. The retraction, which is estimated to last no more than 25 minutes, will equip the stadium to host up to 16 non-soccer events annually, from National Football League games to live concerts. The arena will also be home to the world’s first in-stadium microbrewery and a bakery.
