The Colorado office of Stantec Architecture has announced plans to develop a new mixed-use project adjacent to Coors Field in Denver—home to the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball (MLB). Following its completion of a new volume next to Wrigley Field in Chicago, Stantec will conceive a project that will span an entire downtown city block to supplement stadium offerings and more. Construction is expected to being during the second half of 2018.

A three-acre parcel of land between 19th and Wazee Streets will serve as the site for the project. The structure will host an array of public amenities including restaurants, offices, residences, a hotel, and a new Colorado Rockies Hall of Fame. The design will be anchored by a central plaza appointed with screens on the ground level to contextualize the environment. The landscaped courtyard will stretch to connect the three buildings positioned around it. Each volume will be clad with glass and brickwork, and feature a double-height sky bridge for access to amenities installed in upper levels.

“Beyond baseball, the plaza will serve as Denver’s ‘outdoor room,’ a year-round space that can accommodate neighborhood concerts, festivals and other activities,” said Stantec Senior Principal Daniel Aizenman.
