Atlanta-based architecture practice tvsdesign has received approval to move forward with its 1.4 million-square-foot expansion of the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC). The firm will partner with TSK Architects, Simpson Coulter Studio, Carpenter Sellers Del Gatto Architects, and KME Architects to craft the extension, which will position the structure as the second largest exhibition hall in North America. Groundbreaking is expected to take place in January 2018.

The $860 million project will be rolled out in phases, the first of which will see the completion of the LVCC District Expansion at the end of 2020. A renovation of the existing 3.2 million-square-foot convention center will be wrapped by 2023. The completed project is estimated to accommodate up to two million visitors.
