ReNuWell, a prototype for an integrated care clinic, was conceived by Candy Carmel-Gilfilen, a student at the University of Florida, to provide a holistic patient-centered facility that supports integrative medicine as well as alternative wellness approaches. The prototype for a 49,000-square-foot single-story building features two clinical pods dedicated to cardiology as well as ear, nose, and throat healthcare specialties. These areas are connected by a collection of amenity spaces for patients, caregivers, and family members, including three central support hubs that are designated for resource, nutrition, and wellness needs.

The resource hub provides access to information on medical diagnoses as well as financial counseling, while the wellness hub accommodates a host of fitness classes and can also be converted into a large meeting space for caregivers and staff. The nutrition hub boasts a unique tasting station, which offers healthy food selections as well as a teaching kitchen that provides instruction for healthy cooking habits. ReNuWell presents a hospitality-inspired environment with a strong connection to nature that is achieved through the use of biophilic materials.
